On Saturday afternoon, theOklahoma football program suffered an ugly loss on the road to the Michigan Wolverines to fall to 1-1 on the new season. The Sooners’ offense was never able to get off the ground in this one, with John Mateer unable to find many passing lanes against a stout Michigan defense on the road.
Things went from bad to worse in this one when wide receiver Trell Harris was forced to leave the game due to injury, and on Tuesday, the team got a rough update on the star’s status moving forward.
“Oklahoma wide receiver Trell Harris, who left the Michigan game following a big hit in the first half but returned, will be out for the ‘foreseeable future’ as he continues to be evaluated, coach Brent Venables said. Harris is a transfer from Virginia,” reported college football insider Adam Rittenberg of ESPN on X, formerly Twitter.

It’s certainly a tough blow for a Sooners team that is suddenly flooded with questions on the offensive side of the ball, without any clear avenues of answering them.
The Oklahoma offense was held in check all afternoon by a Michigan squad that needed to reverse the hands of time in order to beat Western Michigan the prior week.
While the Sooners have a tune-up game next week at home against New Mexico, things will get mightily difficult from there, as Oklahoma’s next two games will be against the number two-ranked Georgia Bulldogs and number one-ranked Texas Longhorns.
Oklahoma will certainly hope for good news on Harris before then.
