The Oklahoma Sooners hosted a ton of recruits this week, and some left with offers that they didn’t already have.
The Oklahoma Sooners got to work this week. They hosted their Elite Camp, and it featured a ton of talent. They were busy evaluating, teaching, and developing this talent. And then they were busy handing out some offers.
Among those who received offers was Allen, Texas, linebacker Raiden Johnson. The 2029 defender was one of the standouts at camp, drawing many eyes in drills and workouts. After receiving his offer from the Sooners, Johnson told it exactly how he saw the program.
“It feels amazing that they saw the talent in me, and that they believe in me,” Johnson told SoonerScoop. “It’s a beautiful program, and a really good linebacker tradition… It’s beautiful up here; it’s a beautiful town. I could for sure see myself here in the future.”
Sooners are one of many who are interested in Raiden Johnson
Johnson is being pursued by a ton of big-time schools like Texas Tech, Alabama, Oregon, SMU, Baylor, and now OU. He’s destined to be a big recruit in the 2029 class, when rankings begin. For now, Johnson doesn’t have any stars, but neither does anyone in the 2029 class.
He has 18 total offers, and 15 of them are Power Four offers. Four of those teams made the College Football Playoff last season. At 6’1, 220 pounds as a 2029 linebacker, Johnson could be an elite player with elite size by the time 2028 rolls around, and he’s looking to commit somewhere. The Sooners will want him, as he seems to fit the exact build and mold that Venables likes in a linebacker.
Johnson also told SoonerScoop that he plans to have a game-day visit to Norman, Oklahoma, this fall. And that’s extremely important. Sometimes, those gameday visits are what seal the deal for players. Getting him to see that environment in person could be huge.
