STILLWATER — Coach Eric Morris thought Oklahoma State’s bye week came at a great time.

The Cowboys rested last week after a victorious flight back from West Virginia. Left tackle Braydon Nelson and tight end Oscar Hammond are expected to be back at full strength following the time off.

While idle, OSU moved up one spot to No. 18 in the AP Poll (although the Cowboys are still unranked in the coaches’ poll).

Saturday, the Cowboys (3-1 overall, 1-0 Big 12) will host UCF (3-2, 1-1). Morris is looking forward to seeing the strong home atmosphere a three-game winning streak has inspired.

“I think it comes at a good time for us,” Morris said. “Obviously, to build some excitement around the program, I’m really excited to see Boone Pickens Stadium for this next time. The walk’s been my favorite thing so far about being here. I’ve always heard about it, and I’ve seen pictures. The energy you feel in it has been incredible. So excited to be back in Boone Pickens.”

Let’s take a look at this week’s matchup:

Scouting UCF

2026 Record: 3-2, 1-1 Big 12

Best player: Running back Duke Watson. As a freshman at Louisville, Watson led the country with 8.9 yards per carry. This year as a junior, he’s averaging 8.2. Watson leads UCF with 404 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. He hasn’t carried the ball more than 14 times in any game this season.

The case for UCF: The Knights forced four turnovers in their lone Big 12 win against TCU. They sacked TCU quarterback Jaden Craig four times and the disruption forced two fumbles and two interceptions. OSU quarterback Drew Mestemaker has been turnover prone this season (five interceptions, two fumbles lost). UCF ranks No. 2 in the Big 12 with six interceptions this season. If the Knights can pressure Mestemaker into mistakes, they have a chance to spring the upset.

The case for OSU: OSU’s offense can score too many points for the Knights, down to their backup quarterback Keyone Jenkins, to keep up. The Knights’ defense ranks in the middle of the Big 12 and the Cowboys have averaged 46.3 points their past three games. If the Cowboys can score 40, UCF’s 11-game road losing streak should continue.
