What to Watch: Cowboys Look to Keep Rolling

Oklahoma State enters Saturday with one of the nation's most productive offenses under first-year head coach Eric Morris.

Quarterback Drew Mestemaker has thrown for 1,271 yards through four games, while running back Caleb Hawkins leads the Cowboys with 441 rushing yards. Wide receiver Wyatt Young has emerged as a major downfield threat with 410 receiving yards.

In their last outing, the Cowboys totaled 609 yards of offense against West Virginia. Mestemaker threw for 389 yards and three touchdowns, Hawkins rushed for 180 yards and Young recorded 192 receiving yards.

But the defense will have something to prove after surrendering 335 rushing yards against the Mountaineers.

UCF presents another challenging matchup with a physical rushing attack and dual-threat quarterback Keyone Jenkins.

The Knights also showed their potential against Houston, jumping out to a 17-0 lead before the Cougars rallied for a 27-17 victory.

Morris emphasized the importance of stopping UCF's rushing attack during his weekly press conference.

“Starts with stopping the run and earning the right to defend the pass,” Morris said.

Oklahoma State vs. UCF Series History

The Cowboys are still searching for their first victory over UCF. The Knights have won both previous meetings, including a 17-14 victory in 2025 and a 45-3 win in 2023.

Saturday will be the first meeting between the programs at Boone Pickens Stadium.

Following Saturday's matchup, the Cowboys return to the road for another Big 12 test.

Oklahoma State travels to Houston on Saturday, October 17, for a nationally televised primetime matchup on FOX. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.

But first, the Cowboys will try to take care of business in front of a sold-out Stillwater crowd and improve to 2-0 in Big 12 play.
