The Oklahoma Sooners have one of the marquee matchups of Week 2 of the 2026 college football season. The Sooners travel to take on the Michigan Wolverines at Michigan Stadium, better known as the Big House, for the first time in program history.

The Sooners and Wolverines have faced off twice before. Once in the Orange Bowl in 1976, and the other was last season in Norman. Both were wins by the Sooners. The hope is that Oklahoma can continue its win streak against one of the best programs in college football history.

Quarterback John Mateer spoke about playing at an iconic place like the Big House.

"It's awesome," Mateer said via OUInsider. "If you'd told me when I was five, I would have played at the Big House. It's time to roll."

The excitement surrounding the trip will quickly give way to the task at hand. Oklahoma enters the matchup with plenty of momentum after its dominant opener, while Michigan needed a last-second touchdown to escape the Western Michigan Broncos 13-12 in Week 1.

That contrast gives the Sooners an opportunity to make an early statement against a Wolverine team that still has considerable talent and one of the biggest home-field advantages in college football. Mateer may have dreamed about playing at the Big House since he was little, but the Sooners' goal is much simpler now: leave Ann Arbor with another win over Michigan.

The Sooners take on the Wolverines at 11:00 a.m. CT on Saturday on Fox as part of Big Noon Kickoff.
