Ole Miss 2026 Football Schedule Breakdown and Analysis

After the best season in Ole Miss football history, can the program do it all again?

The Rebels got to the College Football Playoff semifinals – no matter what your schedule was, there’s nothing cheap to get into the last four.

It did help a wee bit, though, that the team missed Alabama, Texas, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Missouri, and didn’t have to play in the SEC Championship.

The 2026 Ole Miss schedule is a tad funkier, but if the team is as good as it was last year, the train doesn’t stop.

The Good

The road games, for the most part, get out of the way early.

As SEC away dates go, Florida and Vanderbilt aren’t bad, and there’s a week off between the two. The payoff comes at Halloween with four of the last five games in Oxford – including Georgia – but …

The Bad

Those road games aren’t a plus.

Last year, the Rebels got Mississippi State and Kentucky on the road, along with Georgia and Oklahoma. This year is worse.

Florida will be better, Texas and Oklahoma are a big problem, and Vanderbilt should still be plucky. Last year, the Rebels got Kentucky and

What SEC Teams Ole Miss Will Miss

Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M.

This doesn’t help. Yeah, missing Alabama, Texas A&M, and Tennessee is great, and not playing South Carolina will be a plus, but the Rebels miss three teams that didn’t go bowling last year.

Ole Miss’s Best and Worst Case Scenarios in 2026

Best Case: Get out of September unbeaten

After last year, the College Football Playoff is the goal. Winning the SEC Championship would obviously be great, but … it didn’t matter to the 2025 team. That means going 10-2 is everything.

The Rebels start with a win over Louisville, and they fight through the road date at Florida for a 4-0 start. After a week off, they get by Vanderbilt, handle Missouri at home, and they’re 6-0 going to Texas.

They win at least one of the three against the Longhorns, Georgia, and at Oklahoma, and don’t miss in any of the home games.

Worst Case: There’s a problem on the road

The Rebels lose the date in Gainesville against the Gators, drop the game at Texas, and the pressure is on over the finishing kick.

The dream of returning to the College Football Playoff is gone after losing at home to Georgia, the wheels come off with a loss at Oklahoma, and most painful of all, they lose to Mississippi State for the first time since 2022.

Games That Will Decide the Ole Miss Season

1. LSU, Sept. 19
This might be the all-time cheekiest SEC opener.

2. at Texas, Oct 24
With Auburn, Georgia, and at Oklahoma up next, this is a must-win moment for the Rebels. They won the last meeting – Texas was in the Big 12 – back in 2013.

The first time these two played was … 1912. Texas won 53-14.

3. Georgia, Nov. 7
Ole Miss and Georgia played two of the best games of last year. The Rebels have won two of the last three meetings.
