Oregon Ducks Land New Update on 5-Star Wide Receiver Target

The Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning have done a remarkable job on the high school recruiting trail leading up to the 2026 college football season.

Throughout the course of the summer, Lanning and his staff built a consensus top-three class in the 2027 cycle, with names such as five-star EDGE Rashad Streets and four-star quarterback Will Mencl being the top commits thus far. However, the Ducks will now begin to shift their focus towards the 2028 recruiting class in hopes to repeat the same success.

According to Rivals' Hayes Fawcett on Monday afternoon, 2028 five-star wide receiver Brayden Clark is down to 12 schools, with Lanning and the Ducks featured in the mix.

Clark, as one of the top playmakers in the country, has quickly become a massive target for multiple Power Four programs. Currently, he is the No. 2 prospect in North Carolina and the No. 4 wide receiver in the 2028 class, per 247Sports' Composite.

During his first two seasons at Providence Day School, Clark recorded over 100 receptions for 1,671 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns. His stout play throughout his freshman and sophomore seasons allowed him to earn a spot in the 2027 Adidas Polynesian Bowl, which will be the perfect opportunity for Clark to prove himself against some of the best high school prospects in the entire country.

The 2026-27 high school football season has been no different for Clark through his first three games. The highly-touted receiver has tallied 15 receptions for 289 receiving yards and three touchdowns with the Chargers this year.

Now, with Clark officially down to 12 schools, it's clear that the well-regarded prospect out of North Carolina will be a key target for Lanning and his staff in the 2028 recruiting class.

Clark has been on the Ducks' radar for over a year now after receiving his offer from the program back in June of 2025. However, in order for Oregon to land the stout playmaker, Lanning must compete against the likes of the Ohio State Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day on the recruitment trail.

As of this month, Oregon has yet to land a commit in the 2028 recruiting class. But Lanning and his staff continue to make a strong impression on some of the top playmakers in the class, with both Clark and fellow five-star wide receiver Deandre Bidden being two of the top targets for the program heading into the upcoming recruiting cycle.
