Sometimes, it's best to sit off to the side and rest while the rest of the college football world goes through the craziness of the regular season. While the Oregon Ducks didn't see a litany of outlandish upsets during their bye week, a couple of results did undoubtedly affect their rankings.
For starters, the No. 8 Florida Gators got shellacked by the Missouri Tigers, and the No. 14 Iowa Hawkeyes lost to the No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes. This resulted in the Ducks moving up in the US LBM Coaches Poll to No. 13, up from No. 15.
It's also worth noting that the UCLA Bruins, previously ranked No. 23, moved up to No. 22 after their bye in Week 5 as well. This sets up a top-25 matchup in Week 6 at Autzen Stadium, with Bob Chesney and the Bruins coming to Eugene with a massive Big Ten game on tap. Both teams are riding high — UCLA after a hot 4-0 start, and Oregon after an emotional win over the USC Trojans in Week 4 — and are looking to prove that they belong in the College Football Playoff conversation at the end of the year.
That game will take place at 12:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, October 10, and will air on CBS.
