The 2026 college football season is just a couple of months away, which means on this Monday morning, football nerds can celebrate one of the rites of passage in the offseason.

Happy "Freaks List" day to all who celebrate.

As we prepare for the upcoming season and dive back into practice reports and season previews for our favorite college football teams, one of the annual staples of reporting in the college football world has been released, thanks to The Athletic's Bruce Feldman.

The "Freaks List" is among the most entertaining articles you will read leading up to the college football season. Unlike other publications, it doesn’t rank the top 100 players in the nation. Instead, Feldman goes through the 101 most physically outlandish “freaks” in college football. In his words, the list aims to “spotlight the players whose athleticism blew the minds of folks inside their own college football programs.”

Over the years, we have seen several Oregon Ducks mentioned as "freaks" on Feldman's list, including Kenyon Sadiq, Jordan Burch, Christian Gonzalez, Devon Jackson, and Brandon Dorlus. Going into the 2026 season, there are a pair of Ducks not only on the list, but in the top 11 of the list.

As it turns out, Oregon's roster is pretty freakish.

Defensive tackle A'Mauri Washington is the first Oregon player mentioned, coming in at No. 3 on the list due to his unreal size, strength, and speed. Washington turned heads this offseason after a video of him squatting 855 pounds went viral on social media.

“We limited even how much A’Mauri can squat now,” coach Dan Lanning told The Athletic in late July. “He can probably squat more than we’re even putting on the bar. He’s strong enough.”

It's not just strength that turns heads for Washington, though. According to Feldman, the senior trimmed down to 327 pounds from 338 and clocked a 20.7 mph. In addition, he vertical jumped 35 inches, did a back squat with 765 pounds and power cleaned 365. The speed and quickness he brings to the table reminds Lanning of some of his former players at Georgia: Jalen Carter and Devonte Wyatt. Teammate Teitum Tuioti says he could potentially win speed competitions against the entire team.

“A’Mauri’s get-off is crazy fast. I’ve never seen nothing like it,” said Tuioti. “I’m a firm believer that if we had a 5-yard dash on our whole team that he probably would win it.”

The next Duck on the list, unsurprisingly, is linebacker Devon Jackson, a frequent "Freak" for Feldman during his time in Eugene. Jackson comes in at No. 11 on the list, notable for his unbelievable speed at 235 pounds. Feldman writes that Jackson clocked 24 miles per hour on the GPS this offseason, which is the fastest time the Athletic has heard of during the Freaks List era.

"This is the fastest linebacker in college football," Feldman writes. "The 6-2, 235-pounder ran a blistering 24 mph on the GPS this offseason, which is the fastest time The Athletic has heard about from a college football player. Jackson also vertical jumped 40 inches and did a back squat of 675 pounds."

There are many more athletes on the Oregon roster deserving of the Freaks list — Bear Alexander also squatted 855 pounds with Washington this offseason, and surely true freshman Immanuel Iheanacho can do something noteworthy at his massive 6-foot-7, 345-pound frame — but it's Washington and Jackson who grace the list.

Now we get to see what freakish things they can do this season on the field, rather than in the weight room.
