The Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning are beginning to ramp up their efforts on the 2028 recruiting trail heading into the upcoming college football regular season.

This offseason, Lanning and his staff have done a remarkable job of attacking the 2027 recruiting class. As of this month, the program is a consensus top-three school in the 2027 class, with a total of 25 commits leading the charge. However, the Ducks will now look to carry over their recent success into the 2028 class this year.

According to 247Sports' Brandon Huffman on Sunday, 2028 four-star quarterback Tommy Devany is set to take a visit to Eugene on Nov 14 when Oregon takes on the Michigan Wolverines.

Could Oregon Land Devany?

Devany, a prolific quarterback prospect in the 2028 class, has begun to draw attention from many colleges this summer. Currently, the rising high school standout is the No. 16 quarterback in the 2028 recruiting class, as well as the No. 18 prospect in the state of California, per 247Sports Composite.

As a sophomore at Buchanan High School, Devany started the entire season for the Bears, recording 2,408 passing yards and 18 touchdowns, while completing 62 percent of his pass attempts. In addition to his success through the air, the talented prospect also had 150 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 53 carries.

This season, Devany has already shown flashes of promise in his first game, as he finished with 186 passing yards and four touchdowns in a massive 55-21 season-opening victory.

Despite not receiving an offer from the Ducks, it's clear that Lanning and his staff are already gaining interest from Devany. Outside of Oregon, the four-star quarterback will visit Cal, Arkansas, Utah, and Stanford throughout the college football regular season. Out of those five schools, both Utah and Cal have been the only programs to offer Devany, per 247Sports.

Looking ahead at the 2028 class, the Ducks have yet to make a move, with their attention being primarily focused on the current recruiting cycle.

Oregon was able to secure a commitment from 2027 four-star quarterback Will Mencl earlier this offseason, who is currently the No. 4 quarterback in the 2027 class and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Arizona. With transfer Dylan Raiola expected to take the reins next season, and Mencl as the future starter down the road, Devany would have plenty of time for developing under Oregon's coaching staff if he ultimately decides to commit to the program.
