In Eugene, the word “legacy” means a whole lot. So much that the Oregon Ducks are now pursuing one tied directly to their biggest rival.

Coach Dan Lanning has made it a point of emphasis to honor the legacy of this program. He made offers to LaGarrette Blount Jr. (son of LeGarrette Sr.), Josiah Molden (son of Alex), Sam Ngata (son of Haloti), and Akili Smith Jr. (son of Akili Sr.).

This time, he has his eyes pointed north. Seattle to be exact.

Titus Huard, the son of former Seattle Seahawks quarterback, and Washington Husky, Brock Huard, is one of the premier quarterbacks in the 2028 class, ranking ninth.

Family Rivalry Brewing?

The Huskies run deep in the Huard blood. Outside of Brock, Titus’ uncle Damon was a three-year starter, and his cousin Sam, suited up for them for two seasons before ultimately landing in Utah.

Titus currently has a standing offer from the Ducks, amongst other programs, but the opportunity to break the Huard mold may be enticing for him.

If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.

The Huard family never had the best of luck against Oregon, with Brock going 1-2 in his career, and Damon acting as a catalyst to one of the biggest plays in Ducks history. In 1994, he threw a 94-yard interception to Kenny Wheaton that helped the Ducks reach the Rose Bowl.

Titus Huard Scouting Report

Oregon currently has a commitment from five-star quarterback in the 2027 class, Will Mencl, so if Huard does decide to come to Eugene, he’ll be in the thick of a competition.

With a 6-foot-5 frame, Huard looks the part. He has exceptional poise in the pocket, with a rocket of an arm and pinpoint accuracy.

While his preference is to pass the ball, he isn’t afraid to get dirty and use his legs to gain yardage. With his large frame, he’s hard to tackle, and is a read-option threat from 10 yards in.

The Fit

On paper, Huard appears to be a strong fit in Lanning's system.

He plays a similar game to current Oregon quarterback Dante Moore, and Oregon historically has a quality rushing attack to help diversify the offense.

Huard can throw for distance which shouldn’t be a problem should he choose to attend Oregon, as the Ducks have built out an impactful pipeline of wide receiver recruits.

If Lanning is serious about continuing his pursuit of Oregon legacies and football royalty, few names carry more weight in the Pacific Northwest than Huard.

For a family whose history is deeply intertwined with Washington football, seeing Titus suit up in green and yellow would be one of the most unexpected recruiting wins of the Lanning era.
