If Oregon can cut down on the penalties (10 for 90 yards), then this team should average more than their 35.4 points per game in 2025 (13th).

Oregon Player to Watch on Offense: QB Dante Moore

Dante Moore recorded a career-high 378 passing yards against Boise State to start 2026. The career-best marked the fourth game of at least 300 yards since 2025. Four different receivers had at least 50 yards and three different receivers caught a touchdown from Moore. Oklahoma State allowed Tulsa to throw for 227 yards on 17-of-24 passing last week. Oregon allowed Boise State to score all four times (2 FG, 2 TDs). The red zone defense was ranked 114th last year with opponents scoring 88.5% of their possessions inside the 20 against Oregon.

Oregon Player to Watch on Defense: LB Koi Perich

The hype around Koi Perich is deserved. In his first game with the Ducks since transferring from Minnesota, Perich led Oregon in tackles with 11, solo tackles with three. Perich is not returning any kicks or punts for Oregon and not playing offense, so he will solely focus on defense and rotating positions in different packages. Perich logged 20 snaps at free safety, 15 at strong safety, eight at slot corner, and even one on the defensive line! He can do it all.

Oklahoma State's offense went 5-for-16 on third downs, turned the ball over four times, and had four drives that lasted five players or less. With newly acquired quarterback, Drew Mestemaker (North Texas), the Cowboys averaged 4.9 yards per pass and 3.4 yards per carry versus Tulsa, which is not going to cut it.

Oklahoma State Player to Watch on Offense: QB Drew Mestemaker

In Drew Mestemaker's first start with Oklahoma State, the Cowboys offense managed 10 points and he was inefficient. The former North Texas quarterback completed 29-of-49 passes (59.2%) for 241 yards, one touchdown, one fumble, and two interceptions. Mestemaker threw for 34 touchdowns to 9 interceptions last year, plus 4,379 passing yards. I don't expect those numbers with Oklahoma State because it will take time to mesh.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys Defense:

Oklahoma State's defense was the highlight of their 24-10 loss. The Cowboys held Tulsa to 1-for-11 on third downs and grabbed an interception. Given the fact that the Cowboys offense turned the ball over four times, it's impressive Oklahoma State could gave up only 24 points. The Cowboys didn't record a sack though and allowed a score in every quarter. Containing this high-octane Oregon offense will be the toughest challenge of the season for Oklahoma State.

Oklahoma State Player to Watch on Defense: CB LaDanian Fields

LaDanian Fields earned himself an interception against Tulsa in his 2026 debut. Oklahoma State's defense had six interceptions as a whole in 2025 and Fields was tied for the team high with two! With no pass rush, Oklahoma State will need playmakers in the secondary and Fields appears to be it. Fields will primarily guard Evan Stewart (8 rec, 72 yards) and Jeremiah McClellan (6 rec, 150 yards, 1 TD), which is going to be a handful.
