The Oklahoma Sooners just hosted a camp this week, and a ton of players left the entire staff very impressed.
This week, the Oklahoma Sooners have sort of focused on the offensive line. Not with their current team and roster, ready to play the 2026 season, but with recruiting. Over the last week or so, they have sent out offers to several offensive linemen in the 2027 class, such as Corey Laga and Jaxon Lawler.
Now, they have sent at least one for the 2029 class. This week, Oklahoma hosted its Sooners Elite Camp, where a bunch of the top high school players in the country came to OU to practice, develop, and teach young kids how to play the game at the SEC level. There, they offered Jax Wilkerson, the son of former Oklahoma player Jimmy Wilkerson.
Jax Wilkerson posted on his Twitter that he received the offer this week during camp. He must have been doing so well that Brent Venables couldn’t let Wilkerson leave town without an offer from Oklahoma. Wilkerson then posted a picture of himself and Venables in his office. 2029 is a ways away, and so much can happen until then, but it’s safe to say Wilkerson is a player they really like in that cycle.
Jax Wilkerson can be elite
The Carl Albert offensive tackle in the 2029 cycle is already 6’7″ and could grow another two inches or so, for all we know. The Sooners like that kind of size, as it’s very similar to what they have now in Michael Fasusi and what they plan to have in Cooper Hackett.
Wilkerson doesn’t have a star rating yet, but from what we do know, he has elite potential. He’s got the size, the footwork, and the movement to be pretty good. factor in that he knows how to work and be a winner, because he’s seen it from his dad. This could be a huge commitment if they ever land him, and they have an advantage.
