The Ole Miss football team hopes to stay undefeated when they tangle with LSU on Saturday night. It is a huge game for the Rebels, as they will see the return of their former head coach Lane Kiffin. Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding is revealing a change his team made before the clash.
“You don’t always change every signal. Going into this season, we did,” Golding said, per ESPN. He made the comments on the ESPN show College GameDay.

Kiffin is in his first season at LSU. He left Ole Miss last season to coach the Tigers. Golding, who was Kiffin’s defensive coordinator for the Rebels, then became head coach.
Clearly these two head coaches know each other well. Kiffin turned Ole Miss back into an SEC power, during his tenure in Oxford. He coached at Ole Miss from 2020-2025.
The Ole Miss-LSU game on Saturday will have major implications on the College Football Playoff rankings. Both schools are ranked and looking for CFP berths.
Ole Miss fans remember when Lane Kiffin left town
Emotions are high going into the game, especially from Ole Miss fans. Rebels fans were angry with Kiffin for leaving the team ahead of last year’s CFP. Golding is hoping fans stay respectful, yet passionate for Saturday’s game.
“There’s nothing wrong with being competitive and being in the moment, right, and being really loud and being an unbelievable fan. And providing an unbelievable atmosphere for our players and really hard to play for their players,” Golding said, per USA Today. “But at the end of the day, don’t lose what we’ve created and what they’ve created for so long, which is a really unique place with really, really good people that’s really hard to play.”
Ole Miss and LSU play Saturday at 7:30 ET. Both teams enter the game undefeated on the campaign.
