Pitt football | 16 transfers join the team

PITTSBURGH – With the University of Pittsburgh's 2026 spring academic term underway and the transfer portal closed, Pitt football coach Pat Narduzzi announced the enrollment of 16 transfer student-athletes who have joined the Panthers.

The transfer class adds experience and depth across multiple position groups, including two tight ends, two offensive linemen, one running back, one wide receiver, one quarterback, two defensive linemen, two linebackers, two defensive backs, and three specialists.

The transfer class includes quarterback Holden Geriner (Texas State), running back La'Vell Wright (Western Kentucky), wide receiver Malik Knight (Western Carolina), tight ends Carson Kent (Oklahoma) and Elijah Lagg (Alabama-Birmingham), offensive linemen Keylen Davis (Akron) and Netinho Olivieri (Pennsylvania), defensive linemen Eliyt Nairne (Tulane) and Jeremiah Warren (Illinois), linebackers Alex Sanford Jr. (Purdue) and DeMarco Ward (Memphis), defensive backs Raion Strader (Auburn) and Kanye Thompson (Slippery Rock), kicker Sam Sunsaker (Northern Arizona), punter Gabe Russo (Idaho State) and long snapper Justin Schmidt (Purdue).
