The Florida Gators suffered their second straight loss after being routed 38-19 by an unranked South Carolina squad.

Just two weeks ago, everyone was talking about how the Gators were back and ready to return to the spotlight. In mid-season, the dust is finally starting to settle in the SEC. In the end, there will only be one team standing. Florida played as badly as they could have hoped. They had three turnovers and never got their run game going, only averaging 3.2 yards per carry.

The defense let Gamecocks QB LaNorris Sellers have his way. He finished the day with 279 passing yards and four touchdowns and added 39 yards on the ground.

"I see us every day. We are very much a work in progress. Even after the Ole Miss game, I was uneasy, Gators coach John Sumrall said. "Two weeks ago today, we had nowhere near arrived. Now, we clearly haven't arrived the last two weeks because we've been exposed in a pretty substantial way."

Sumrall also mentioned how "not a whole lot has changed" since the first four weeks of the season. "But I think sometimes, and I said this last week as well, sometimes when you're winning it masks maybe the things that are not going right or that you're not doing well. And I don't know that a whole lot has honestly changed."

Something must change and fast because the Gators' next two games are on the road against Texas and Georgia. It doesn't get any easier for Sumrall and the Gators. But this could be the part of the season where Florida is presented with an opportunity to pull off an upset. Texas is coming off a loss to Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry. Also, Georgia gutted out a tough win against Alabama.

Needless to say, the next two games for Florida will be critical for the postseason.
