Rivalries Re-kindled in the "Fantasy" College Football Playoff Bracket

Time for a debate! On Sunday's episode of the Josh Pate Show, Pate put together what he called the perfect college football bracket.

Pate and his staff "fantasy booked" the playoff. Well, what does that exactly mean? The criteria they followed are that the games had to be believable and possible, which games would be the most fun, which games would be the most incredible, and which games would be the most eyeball attention-grabbing playoff.

With that in mind, the guys got on the white board and drafted this together.

With all of that in mind they came up with this as the setup for the bracket:

`12. James Madison
11. Texas Tech
10. USC
9. Indiana
8. Oregon
7. Oklahoma
6. Texas
5. Notre Dame
4. Ohio State
3. Alabama
2. LSU
1. Miami

The matchups in this dream scenario are fantastic. Indiana and Oregon get it going as they form a budding rivalry, Lincoln Riley has to win in Norman, Lane Kiffin gets a bye, and Ohio State matches up with Notre Dame in the second round.

By the letter of the law of this selection, these games would be insane. Outside of Notre Dame and James Madison in round one, each game would appear to be a close one, and it would set up for an awesome Playoff.

Now, as the Playoffs sort themselves out, Pate has the Buckeyes losing to the Fighting Irish in that quarterfinal matchup, but that's besides the point.

One of the best parts and likely unintended results of the 12-team College Football Playoffs is that there are new rivalries created and old ones rekindled. Ohio State and Notre Dame have seen each other two of the last three seasons, Indiana and Oregon might become the second-best rivalry in the sport, and the SEC still has juice.

On a day when College Football actually felt mortal for the first time ever, it is a discussion and a bracket like this that reminds everyone about the best parts of college football.

The rivalries, the matchups, the playoff format, the great brands, the incredible players, and the guys settling it all on the field.

There are going to be some incredible teams in College Football next season, and we get to enjoy the fight to the top of the sport.
