Unfortunately, Tom is back to being dead, so you’re stuck with me (Andrew VU ‘04) and Patrick.
So, uhh… this one’s a loss, right?
Let’s see what the writers think.
Andrew VU ‘04
Ever visited a slaughterhouse with the rest of your third grade class on a field trip? No? Because that would be a traumatic horror-show of Lovecraftian proportions and you didn’t grow up in rural Arkansas? Well I’m not saying this game will be as bad as when Deuce McCallister scored like 70 on us by himself back when I was in college, but also, those pigs won’t stop screaming.
Consider the following:
- Ugga is better than us. Much better than us. Especially on the lines.
- The Courtesy Bear is injured and questionable to play.
- Ugga has a figurative bounty on Curtis since he flipped his commit our way.
With these indisputable facts, I’m actually rooting for Curtis to sit this one out if he has so much as a hangnail, as I would rather him not be on the business end of eleven Captive Bolt Guns wearing silver britches.
This is not a Woody Widenhofer “Have fun, expect to win” game. It’s more of a Gore Verbinkski “Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die.”
The Pick: Vanderbilt 6, Georgia Eleventy Billion. (I know I picked Vandy and the 24.5 points in the Pick ‘Em earlier this week, but that was before Curtis got dinged up.)
The SEC Upset Pick of the Week: Unless Ugga’s entire defense comes down with food poisoning this morning, it’s not going to be us. However, the rest of the SEC’s about to be thrown in a blender. Give me Clanga over Ramajama and Auburn over Coach Bobby Hill and the Knoxvile Buttchuggers.

I have very bad feelings about this game. Georgia has obliterated every opponent so far. Tennessee State got destroyed 63-3 then WKU took a 70-20 evisceration. SEC foes Arkansas and Oklahoma have not faired much better with 45-17 and 41-13 results, respectively. We are probably in the tier of the SEC nearest those two this season.
Oh, and our starting QB who flipped last minute from Georgia is banged up. Andrew is spot on about protecting Curtis. The freshman started to show some tendencies about pulling the ball down early against Auburn and getting smacked around by the Bulldogs while already banged up is not going to help build good habits.
The defense looked better against Auburn, but they are not going to pull of a 2013 or 2016 game. The offense is going to put them in bad spots too much. Not even the Vanderbilt at Georgia homecoming curse can help us.
The Pick: Vanderbilt 10, Georgia 45
The SEC Upset Pick of the Week: I have two, but I am going with the one I don’t care if I jinx. Kentucky, only 2.5-point underdogs, are going to beat South Carolina. The Gamecocks are unraveling. They had Mississippi State on the ropes then let a 23-14 halftime lead turn into a 41-34 loss. Alabama just whooped up on them. Cats had an easy one last week to follow their Texas A&M upset win.
