WNBA star Caitlin Clark's season came to an end Thursday night.
Now, she can start making headlines in other sports.
Two days after the Clark's Indiana Fever were eliminated by the Las Vegas Aces, she made an appearance on ESPN's College Gameday Saturday morning on the campus of Iowa University, where she attended school. She joined a panel that included Pat McAfee, Nick Saban and Desmond Howard.
When it came time to make predictions for the Miami Hurricanes game against the Clemson Tigers, Clark picked the Hurricanes. She also gave a glowing endorsement for UM star receiver Malachi Toney to win the Heisman Trophy this season.
And why not?
Toney has been among the best players in college football. He has 34 catches for 564 yards and six touchdowns for the Hurricanes, who are 4-0 entering the matchup against the Tigers.
Miami has two Heisman candidates, so Clark must be really impressed with Toney. The other UM star is quarterback Darian Mensah, who has been equally as dominant on the field. In his first season in Miami since transferring from the Duke Blue Devils, Mensah has completed 94 of 106 passes for 1,211 yards with 14 touchdowns and zero interceptions. He has completed nearly 89 percent of his passes.
The duo is why many feel the Hurricanes could make a repeat appearance in the championship game of the College Football Playoff. Last year they came up just short against the Indiana Hooisers. But first they have to get past a Clemson team that many are calling a "trap" game for the Hurricanes.
Even though the Tigers are having a down year, they are still a big nemesis for Miami. It was only a few years ago when Clemson handed the Hurricanes an embarrassing 56-0 defeat. The chances of a repeat are unlikely, especially with coach Mario Cristobal having the program running so smoothly.
The Hurricanes are still searching for their first ACC championship since joining the league in 2004. With two Heisman candidates on the same team, this could be finally the year the Hurricanes get that title. Still, that's the least of their concerns. They are thinking championship.
As for Clark, she was making her first public appearance since the Fever's season came to an end at the hands of the Aces for a second straight season. Before making the pick, she greeted fans and threw out autographed shoes to the crowd.
