Fans of the Texas Longhorns can now lock in their early-season Saturday schedules, as the SEC announced kickoff times for Texas’ Week 1 and Week 3 matchups Wednesday afternoon.
The Longhorns will open the 2026 season versus the Texas State Bobcats on September 5 at 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN. It will be Texas State's first game as a member of the Pac-12 following 13 seasons in the Sun Belt Conference. After consecutive 8–5 seasons in 2023 and 2024, the Bobcats took a step back to 7–6 in 2025, although they continued their recent postseason success with their third straight bowl win. According to University of Texas Athletics, Texas and Texas State have only played once, when Texas State was named Southwest Texas State Teachers College (Texas won 36–0 in Austin).
Following their highly-anticipated Week 2 rematch against Ohio State, previously announced for September 12 at 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC, Texas will host the UTSA Roadrunners on September 19 at 7 p.m. CT on SEC Network+ in its final game before conference play. The Roadrunners finished 2025 with their second straight 7–6 record and are entering their seventh season under head coach Jeff Traylor. Traylor has an overall record of 53–26 and has led UTSA to bowl victories in each of the last three postseasons. Texas and UTSA have played twice, both in the Steve Sarkisian era, with Texas winning 41–20 in 2022 and 56–7 in 2024. In their most recent matchup, then-redshirt freshman Arch Manning replaced an injured Quinn Ewers early in the second quarter and threw for 223 yards and four touchdowns while adding a 67-yard score on the ground.
