The SEC has shown a lot of parity in the middle of the conference this season and the Missouri Tigers proved that on Saturday. Missouri stunned the Florida Gators a week after Florida's 28-point win over the Ole Miss Rebels. Missouri flipped the script on Florida and dealt the Gators and their high-scoring offense a 45-17 defeat. Missouri ran all over Florida and looked far more physical.
The middle of the pack in the SEC is hard to evaluate with Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi State all having one loss. There's not a lot separating these SEC teams at this point in the season.
The Kentucky Wildcats and quarterback Kenny Minchey showed their guts in a 35-34 overtime win on the road at South Carolina. The Wildcats came back from a 17-point deficit, which was the largest road comeback in school history. Kentucky won on a two-point conversion in overtime to add to the misery for South Carolina coach Shane Beamer.
Alabama and quarterback Keelon Russell did not stop pouring on the points against previous unbeaten Mississippi State, who lost by 35 points. Russell has at least four total touchdowns and 300 total yards in each of his last three outings entering Alabama's big Week 6 game against the Georgia Bulldogs. We have Alabama and Georgia as the two best teams in the SEC right now just ahead of Texas.
Georgia stifled Vanderbilt behind an efficient three touchdown performance from quarterback Gunner Stockton. Tennessee ran the ball down the heart of the Auburn defense as running back DeSean Bishop accumulated 220 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.
LSU dominated McNeese State and Texas A&M throttled Arkansas, who did not look too much better than the McNeese State's of the world. Oklahoma, Texas and Ole Miss all had bye weeks.
