The Florida State Seminoles beat Central Arkansas 34-7 on Saturday in Tallahassee. Their offense was effective, partly due to sophomore wide receiver Jayvan Boggs' great performance.

Boggs was a major factor in the FSU offense and a reliable target for quarterback Ashton Daniels. Boggs had six catches for 122 yards and a touchdown. One of his receptions was in the first quarter, up 14-0, across the middle for a substantial gain. 

His touchdown occurred in the third quarter to give them the lead, 30-7. Boggs got behind the defense and had yards of separation from the nearest defender for a 34-yard score. It seemed like the majority of Boggs' catches were big plays.

Jayvan Boggs overview

Boggs was a former 4-star receiver out of Cocoa High School. He was ranked as the 27th-best wide receiver in the class of 2025 and had offers from other Florida schools like UCF and UF. He committed to Florida State on Dec. 4, 2024, and enrolled early the month after. 

Boggs played in eight games and started four of them in 2025, which is really good for a college freshman. He concluded his first season of college football with nine catches for 103 yards and a touchdown, which was against East Texas A&M in Week 2. 

Toward the end of the season in December 2025, Boggs actually entered the transfer portal, but was only there for about two weeks before withdrawing. 

So far this season, he has 12 catches for 240 yards and a touchdown. In the first three games of the season, he only had six catches and was under three receptions each game.

Boggs' numbers have improved every game and he's starting to get more into the rotation for the Seminoles' pass catchers. It's a crowded receiver room with players like Duce Robinson, who was named a Preseason All-American by AP, but Boggs is making an impact on that side of the ball. 

How did the rest of the Seminoles offense do against Central Arkansas? 

The rest of the Seminoles' offense did well against Central Arkansas, getting a total of 417 yards, averaging 8.7 yards per play. Quarterback Daniels threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns to one interception on 12/18 attempts. Running back Ousmane Kromah had 86 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. 

Florida State will go against Virginia next week in their second conference game of the season.
