‘So Lame,’ ‘I’m So Proud’ — Dolphins Fans Divided After Tua Tagovailoa Gets Booed on Return to Miami With Falcons

Tua Tagovailoa had huge expectations to be the quarterback to take the Miami Dolphins to the promised land and bring a Super Bowl back to Miami. But it never happened for him despite some successful years. After a tough exit, Tagovailoa left for Atlanta.
Now, he is back in Miami for preseason action and was met with boos from the Miami fans. Dolphins fans are split on whether booing Tagovailoa was the right move.
Dolphins Fans Unsure on Choice to Boo Tua Tagovailoa in Return to Miami
The Dolphins haven’t won a playoff game since 2000 and have struggled to maintain relevance this century. Tagovailoa brought them to the playoffs but couldn’t get it done. At the end of his Miami tenure, turnovers began to bite him and cost the team, leading to his benching and leaving a sour taste with Miami fans.
“I’m so proud of the 50 people that are there,” said one fan about Tagovailoa getting booed on his return to Miami.
Another fan was in agreement that the choice to boo Tagovailoa was what Dolphins fans should have done.

“Tua getting booed. Maybe there is some hope left with our fanbase after all,” said the fan.
Barstool’s Nicky Smokes reacted by writing, “Holy (expletive), I can’t believe the Dolphins fans booed Tua.” A fan under his post wrote, “Extremely deserved booing.”
To others, the choice simply came as a shock. Tagovailoa’s exit wasn’t particularly messy, but his poor play got old for Dolphins fans.

Tagovailoa made the Pro Bowl once and even had a top-10 finish in MVP voting with the Dolphins. According to PFN’s QB Impact Metric, he was the third-best quarterback in the 2023 season with an impact score of 87.1, and ranked fourth in 2022 with an impact score of 83.0.
He also dealt with some scary concussions and often did everything he could to get back on the field for Miami. This effort didn’t go unnoticed by some fans, who were disappointed that Dolphins fans met Tagovailoa with boos.
“The Miami Dolphins fans are disgusting for booing Tua. He has taken brain damage for the organization and brought that sorry team their only period of relevancy in the last 25 years. Classless,” said one fan.
Others expressed their disgust at the disrespect shown to Tagovailoa on his return.
“Those Dolphins fans at the stadium are losers,” said one Dolphins fan.
Another chimed in, “So lame.”
Tagovailoa is fighting for his job in Atlanta in a QB competition with Michael Penix Jr. and potentially Jack Strand as well for the QB2 spot. He is doing whatever he can in his final preseason action to prove why he belongs in Atlanta.
The 28-year-old quarterback is looking for appreciation at a new destination, having clearly lost all love in Miami.
