South Carolina Looks to Bounce Back

South Carolina enters Saturday night’s matchup at 2-1 overall and 0-1 in SEC play after suffering a 41-34 loss to Mississippi State last week.

The Gamecocks got off to a strong start against the Bulldogs, building a 16-point lead before Mississippi State rallied. South Carolina will now have to put that disappointment behind it quickly with a trip to one of the toughest environments in college football.

This will be the Gamecocks’ first road game of the season.

LaNorris Sellers Gets Another Shot at Alabama

Quarterback LaNorris Sellers will be one of the biggest storylines Saturday.

Sellers has thrown for 648 yards and five touchdowns through three games while also providing a major threat as a runner. He will face an Alabama defense that will be looking to rebound after giving up 377 passing yards to Florida State last week.

Sellers has already faced Alabama twice in his career, including last season’s 29-22 loss in Columbia. The Gamecocks held a fourth-quarter lead in that game before Alabama rallied for the victory.

Alabama’s Offense Is Rolling

No. 8 Alabama enters the matchup undefeated at 3-0 and 1-0 in SEC play.

The Crimson Tide are averaging 47.7 points per game and have produced 1,397 total yards through three games. Quarterback Keelon Russell is coming off the best performance of his young career, completing 23 of 30 passes for 320 yards and four total touchdowns against Florida State.

Alabama also has a balanced rushing attack led by Daniel Hill, who has 210 rushing yards and three touchdowns this season.

A Familiar SEC Rivalry

Saturday’s game will be the third consecutive season these teams have met.

Alabama won a 27-25 thriller in Tuscaloosa in 2024 before escaping Columbia with a 29-22 victory last season. The Crimson Tide lead the all-time series 15-3, with South Carolina’s last victory coming in 2010.

That recent history gives South Carolina plenty of reason to believe it can make this another competitive matchup.

Game Information

The Gamecocks and Crimson Tide will kick off at 7 p.m. ET Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, with the game airing on ESPN.

For South Carolina, the challenge is clear: slow down Alabama’s explosive offense, protect Sellers and find a way to finish the game better than it did against Mississippi State.

For Alabama, the goal is to continue its undefeated start while cleaning up the defensive issues that showed up against Florida State.
