Stanford set to be without several key starters against Miami on Friday

The injury bug is hitting the Stanford football program at a tough time.

The Cardinal beat Hawaii 37-27 in Week 0, but will be without four projected starters on offense when the program faces the No. 7 Miami Hurricanes at home on Friday, Sept. 4.

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, left tackle Niki Prongos, guard Simione Pale, center Aidan Kilstrom and wide receiver Nico Brown are all out with injuries. Edge rusher Gabe Kaminski also is set to miss the game.

Brown had an electric 2025 season with Yale before transferring to Stanford in January. He finished last season with 71 receptions for 1,085 yards and 11 touchdowns. Brown did not play against Hawaii.

Kaminski recorded four total tackles and 1.5 sacks. last week. For his career, he has 11 total tackles.

Stanford will have to make do with what it has to try to upset Miami. Miami comes in as a 24.5-point favorite, per FanDuel Sportsbook. The Hurricanes are coming off a College Football Playoff National Championship Game appearance and now has Darian Mensah at quarterback.

Mensah helped Duke win the ACC title last year before transferring to Miami. He’ll now try to help Miami win the ACC title and get the program back to the CFP.

Kickoff for Friday’s matchup is set for 9 p.m. ET on ESPN. Mike Monaco and Jordan Rodgers will have the call.
