The Vanderbilt football team is hoping to pick up a win on Saturday over Georgia. The Commodores are getting some big injury news ahead of that game.

“Sources: Vanderbilt star freshman QB Jared Curtis will not play at Georgia today. He’s a former Georgia commit who’d been considered a game-time decision with an undisclosed injury,” ESPN’s Pete Thamel posted to X, formerly Twitter.

The Commodores will instead go with a familiar face against the Bulldogs.

“Veteran Blaze Berlowitz will start for Vanderbilt today, per sources. He’s set to make his third start of the season,” Thamel reported.

This is a big game for Vanderbilt. The Commodores are looking for their first SEC conference win of the season. The squad is coming off a frustrating loss to Auburn, to start SEC play.

Vanderbilt fans are definitely disheartened to hear about Curtis’ injury. This season, Curtis has posted 746 passing yards and four touchdowns. He also has three interceptions on the year.

Vanderbilt is going into a tough stretch

Saturday starts a brutal two-game stretch for Vanderbilt. The squad’s next two games are against Georgia and then Ole Miss. Both of those squads are ranked teams.

“And what’s next is a great challenge in Georgia,” Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea said, per USA Today. “I mean, I got a ton of respect for Kirby Smart, the program he’s built, he’s an alum. He’s a guy that, you know, has built a program that has become the standard bearer for college football and that’s a three-phase program. I respect the way they play the game in all three phases. They’re physical, they’re fast, they’re sound in their systems.”
