“Convincing s–t happens that’s so off the wall that you’re like, ‘Where are we going now?’” Brown says.

Sterling K. Brown is dishing on the new season of “Paradise.”

The “This Is Us” alum, 50, teased the upcoming season of the hit Hulu thriller while speaking on a “Paradise” panel at Televerse 26 in Los Angeles on Saturday. Brown revealed that production on season three, which follows Brown’s Xavier Collins, wrapped on Friday, Aug. 14.

“We actually had our last night of shooting last night,” Brown said. “I will say this, because [creator] Dan [Fogelman] will often compare like…we’re both huge ‘Lost’ fans, right? The difference between, I think, what network television was doing at that point in time and what we’re trying to do on a streamer is sort of come up with a beginning, middle, and end, rather than keeping it going indefinitely.”

Brown, who is nominated for an Emmy for outstanding lead actor for his performance, shared that each episode of season three “drives towards something in a very muscular way.” In the drama series, Secret Service agent Collins begins to discover hidden truths after an apocalyptic event forces a select group of individuals to live in an underground bunker.

In season two, Brown’s Collins leaves the bunker in search of his wife Terri (Enuka Okuma) and encounters a new world of survivors. “Paradise” has received critical acclaim since its premiere in 2025, earning seven Emmy nominations this year.

“There’s no fat in season three,” Brown said. “It starts off and you kind of breathe a little bit because there’s a lot that happens in episode 208, right? And you’re like, ‘What are these people going to do? How are they going to move forward?’ Different folks have different ideas of what the best way to move forward is. You see them make their decisions and then some s–t happens.”

“Convincing s–t happens that’s so off the wall that you’re like, ‘Where are we going now?’” Brown added. “We’re just going to spend another day in Paradise.”

Elsewhere during the panel interview, director Hanelle Culpepper thanked Brown for introducing her to Fogelman and suggesting her as a director for the series.

Culpepper, who has directed episodes of “90210,” “Parenthood,” “Criminal Minds,” and “Revenge,” received her first Emmy nomination for directing episode 208 (“Exodus”) of “Paradise.” She is the second Black woman to be nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.

“I just wanted to say thank you to Sterling so much because he is the reason I am here,” Culpepper said. “He is the one who told Dan Fogelman and the producers, ‘You all should meet her. I think she’d be great.’ And so, he brought me into this family and has changed my life.”

The season three premiere date of “Paradise” has yet to be announced.
