EA College Football 27 is about to launch. The game goes live to the public on July 9, with MVP+ members getting access on July 2. As such, EA has been rolling out rating reveals this past week. On Friday, EA released player ratings for all players in the game.
That includes Syracuse. The Orange have 66 players rated in the game. As a reminder, players have to opt into the game to have their name, image and likeness rights used in the game. This year’s top ten Syracuse players are:
- CB Chris Peal: 90
- CB Demetres Samuel Jr.: 87
- HB Ahmad Miller: 82
- WR Cole Weaver: 81
- QB Steve Angeli: 81
- LEDG Tunmise Adeleye: 81
- MIKE Antoine Deslauriers: 80
- HB Ju’Juan Johnson: 79
- WR Zamondre Merriweather: 79
- QB Amari Odom: 78
Two other players are tied with Odom at 78 overall. CB Davien Kerr and DT Rashard Perry also earned the same rating as the transfer quarterback.
Peal is the second Syracuse football player in the new era of college football games to be rated at least 90 overall at game launch. Oronde Gadsden II got a 91 overall rating at EA College Football 25’s launch.
The roster ratings have reflected Syracuse’s decline over the past season. At EA College Football 25’s launch, the Orange had 12 players rated 80 or over, with six players at 85 rated or over. For EA College Football 26’s launch, Syracuse had 10 players rated 80 or over, with Devin Grant representing the only Orange player rated at 85 or over. This season, only seven Orange players reached the 80 overall rating at launch, with Peal and Samuel breaking the 85 rating ceiling.
Peal’s high rating reflects the growing positive attitude around his game and pro prospects. EA has Peal as the only 90 rated cornerback in the ACC. Peal is also tied with three others as the ninth best cornerback in the game.
In terms of other ACC rankings, Samuel is tied with four others for the third best ACC cornerback. Angeli is tied for the sixth best quarterback in the ACC with Louisville’s Lincoln Kienholz. Deslauriers is tied for the 8th best MIKE linebacker with Duke’s Nick Morris Jr.
The overall team rankings don’t have Syracuse in the best of light. Syracuse is tied for the 60th best team in the game at a 78 overall. Georgia Tech and Wake Forest are two of the teams tied with the Orange at a 78. Boston College and Stanford are the only ACC teams ranked lower than a 78 overall. The Orange have a 77 rated offense and 80 overall defense.
We’ll have more articles coming upon the game’s release, including one of my favorite experiments that we’ve done in the past two years. Dom and I will each simulate 10 individual 2026 Syracuse football seasons in Dynasty. We’ll post our results and findings in an article. If you’re interested in our previous examples of this experiment, the versions for the 2024 season and the 2025 season are here.
