Taylor McGregor interviews emotional Eric Morris after Oklahoma State stuns Oregon

You’ve probably heard about or seen Taylor McGregor, reporter extraordinaire for ESPN and the Marquee Sports Network, at some point over the past week.
First, McGregor put on a clinic during ESPN’s broadcast of the power outage that massively delayed Florida State’s win over SMU on Monday night. In doing so, she piqued the nation’s interest and pulled back the curtain on several shows, including The Pat McAfee Show. She was in front of the camera so much that a security guard yelled at her to move during a radio spot.
So, of course, McGregor was on the sideline for the Oklahoma State Cowboys’ stunning 39-31 upset over the No. 6 Oregon Ducks at Boone Pickens Stadium on Saturday. But after the game, McGregor showed off her reporting prowess by making it about the Cowboys and the moment, not herself.
Oklahoma State head coach Eric Morris couldn’t help but cry.
“I’d know if I can top this. I’m not gonna retire, but I might think about it today.”

“Everybody counted them out, told ’em how bad they were. Proud of those kids,” Morris said, with emotion evident in his voice.
McGregor asked Morris what made him emotional in that moment, to which he said, “It’s just so cool to see. You’ve been told you’re not good enough, and then they come out and they fight for one another for a bigger cause. So happy for our fans, for our alumni, everyone involved.”
Morris also praised quarterback Drew Mastemaker.
“There’ll be some talk now that he might be the No. 1 quarterback in this year’s class,” Morris said. Oregon quarterback Dante Moore entered the day as the consensus No. 1 quarterback, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
McGregor also interviewed Mastemaker, who noted, “Everyone on this team has been counted out their whole career, and I think that’s what makes us special.”

The Cowboys lost their season opener to Tulsa last week, marking their 12th consecutive loss, dating back to last season. Poetically (and cathartically, probably), Oklahoma State snapped the losing streak against the team that started it, as the Ducks stomped the Cowboys 69-3 on Sept. 6, 2025.
The Cowboys’ triumph held even heftier historical weight, too. According to ESPN, Oregon suffered its biggest upset loss (+24.5) since the FBS and FCS split in 1978. Oklahoma State, meanwhile, captured its first victory over an FBS opponent since Sept. 14, 2024.
