Texas A&M is 'definitely the leader' to flip 4-star 2027 athlete

Texas A&M's 50-0 opening-season win vs. Missouri State also served as another opportunity to host a long list of 2027, 2028, and 2029 prospects, including one of the Aggies' priority flip targets, who made his first trip to Kyle Field on Saturday. Already several games through his senior season at Miami Carol City, four-star athlete Za'Kari Johnson is one of the most versatile prospects in the 2027 cycle.

While his collegiate position is unknown, Johnson's future could be in the secondary at nickel or safety, two positions that Texas A&M coach Mike Elko has developed current and future NFL players, as the Aggies' loaded 2026 safety and cornerback rotation is considered one of the best units in the country.

During his final season at Plantation, Johnson played both quarterback and defensive back, rushing for 777 yards and 9 touchdowns and throwing for 551 yards and 7 touchdowns, along with 10 tackles, 4 pass breakups, and an interception. As you can see, Johnson is a "jack of all trades" who is simply a playmaker who offenses and defenses must game plan around.

After visiting the Aggies, Rivals recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong stated that Texas A&M is "definitely the leader" for the Florida State commit, who chose the Seminoles back in early July, but given the current state of the program, especially after Monday's gut-wrenching loss to SMU, it's hard to gauge Florida State's future under coach Mike Norvell, which will affect recruiting.

If the Aggies land Za'Kari Johnson, Texas A&M's future secondary is all but set, joining blue-chip safeties Kamarui Dorsey and JayQuan Snell, paired with five-star cornerback Raylaun Henry.
