The 5th-ranked Texas Longhorns host the Texas State Bobcats at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium for Week 1 of the regular season on Saturday. One injury to monitor is superstar left tackle Trevor Goosby, who suffered a non-contact left knee bone bruise on Monday, August 17. Goosby was sidelined for two weeks of fall camp before returning to practice on Monday. The projected top-20 pick of the 2027 NFL Draft could miss Week 1 with the hope of being ready for Week 2’s highly anticipated rematch against Ohio State.

During Thursday’s press conference, Steve Sarkisian provided an injury update on Trevor Goosby, as reported by an X handle, Inside Texas. Goosby is “good to go” for Saturday afternoon but might not play the entire game, since Sarkisian also added that he wants to see Andre Cojoe play against Texas State. With Texas currently 29.5-point favorites, there is a chance that Cojoe plays the second half, especially if the game is out of reach.

What about their incoming transfer?
Akron Zips offensive lineman Laurance Seymore (50) greets Ohio State Buckeyes defensive end Kenyatta Jackson Jr. (97) following Saturday’s NCAA Division I football game at Ohio Stadium.
Laurence Seymore has been dealing with tendonitis since joining the Longhorns in June, which sidelined him for an extended period. Seymore returned to practice earlier this week and is also good to go. The Western Kentucky transfer is currently the projected starting left guard but is also not expected to play the entire game.
