Texas Tech at Oregon State: How to Watch Red Raiders' First Corvallis Trip

LUBBOCK — Texas Tech football is making its first-ever trip to Corvallis to face Oregon State in the first road game of the 2026 season.

The Red Raiders look to build on a 2-0 all-time series lead, which most recently includes a 45-14 rout of the Beavers in Lubbock during the 2025 non-conference slate. The first meeting was back in 1959, a 15-14 win for Texas Tech.

While Tech's conference-championship aspirations remain as high as they were in the last meeting with Oregon State, this is largely a new-look Red Raiders team.

That is seen on offense mostly with quarterback Will Hammond entering his second game removed from ACL surgery and as the new full-time starter. Hammond completed nearly 80 percent of his passes in Tech's Week 1 win over Abilene Christian last week.

Tech does return offensive pieces such as running back J'Koby Williams, receiver Coy Eakin and tight end Terrance Carter Jr. from last season. Each of those players had touchdowns against Oregon State a year ago.

Defensively, the Red Raiders reloaded once again in the transfer portal in hopes of claiming another Big 12 title. Texas Tech overwhelmed the Wildcats last week, not allowing an offensive score. ACU rushed for just 75 yards and its only points came on a field goal and a late kickoff return for a touchdown.

Oregon State will have a key transfer of its own going against Joey McGuire's reloaded squad. Beavers quarterback Braden Atkinson landed in Corvallis after a debut season at Mercer in which he was given the Jerry Rice Award as the best freshman in the FCS.

Last week, Oregon State fell to Houston 33-20 as Atkinson threw for 376 yards and a touchdown with no turnovers.
