It was just a scrimmage, but it's safe to say that SaRod Baker is picking up right where he left off for DeSoto (TX) following an otherworldly playoff run in 2025.

The Texas Tech commit and All-USA running back obliterated the defense during a run from the opposite 1-yard line during a scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 22, breaking through roughly seven tackles and somehow escaping a pile of defenders driving him toward the sideline. Not a single one could bring him down, and Baker went for 99 yards for the touchdown.

Words don't do this run justice. Calling it a scrimmage undersells what this Texas high school football star did. Watch below:

Baker finished his junior year with 3,206 rushing yards and 46 touchdowns, but here's the twist: 1,600 yards and 25 touchdowns were in 10 regular season games. He doubled that output in the playoffs, rushing for 1,606 yards and 21 touchdowns across just six playoff games.

He rushed for over 200 yards four times, over 300 thrice and reached 402 yards and seven touchdowns in the regional final. He had 366 yards and three touchdowns against Southlake Carroll in the semifinals. He scored two more touchdowns in the championship game, icing his historic postseason with a title.

In doing so, he rose from a three-star recruit to a four-star and became a consensus top-100 recruit.

DeSoto is set to begin its season this week against Florida power St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, FL), a top-10 team in the Super 25 national rankings.

Baker will need to be at his best for the Fighting Eagles to have a chance. Based on this run, he's there.
