Last week was a bit of a bloodbath, and while under other circumstances we love a good bloodbath here in the dungeon—not under these circumstances. Everyone in R&D is upset because we ruled out any bloodbaths this week. Listen, running a proper dungeon isn’t a popularity contest.
The Obligatory Bet Against UNC Of The Week
The Tar Heels have caught themselves a massive break in the form of Mason Heintschel’s injury but we feel supremely confident that they will nonetheless find a way to lose by at least 3.5 points. Anywhere from four to twelve points, somewhere in there.
Are We Betting NC State This Week
In this economy? With this offensive line? Actually… no, nope, no, not going to do it.
Around The Country
USF vs. UTSA -6.5: We love a good touchdown and two-point conversion to cover with 15 seconds left, don’t we folks.
FSU vs. Louisville -3.5: Louisville went behind 14-0 and brought out some boo-birds (those actually do have teeth) in the process, but nothing turns a game around like a 97-yard touchdown run, that’s what I always say. An amusing story last night was that Louisville’s coaches made everyone on the defense wear armbands with the playcalls on them because that’s how frequently they’ve been busting coverages. (They still busted coverages.)
Rice vs. ECU -10: Sometimes I sit back and think about how funny it is that there’s a school named Rice. I’m sure it’s named after some guy, like Bob Rice or something, who murdered 10,000 people to build a cotton plantation in east Texas in 1824. But still, Rice. It’s too bad there’s not a school called Tomato.
OU vs. Texas O39.5: Both of these teams have mediocre quarterbacks and good defenses—Texas is coming off a 10-sack performance at Tennessee—and so you would imagine that this will be some sort of unwatchable 14-12 nonsense of a game. Which it may well be. When I see a number in the 30s, though, I’m gonna just take the over.
Maryland vs. Ohio State -33.5: We don’t get to talk about Maryland football anymore, which is a bummer, because life for Maryland football has gotten approximately eighteen-times worse in the Big Ten. Not even the freedom of a divisionless conference schedule is helping. Man that’s funny.
UGA vs. Alabama +110 moneyline: I think I’m finally on board with Alabama after last week. Keelon Russell has some scary potential. This team is a lot of fun to watch—a painful thing to have to admit about Alabama, but so it goes.
