Should the Wisconsin Badgers decide to move on from Luke Fickell before, during, or after the 2026 season, they have quite a few options to consider.

Once again, Fickell has been put on the hot seat heading into the 2026 season. Wisconsin has a marquee battle with Notre Dame to kick off the season, one that could prove he's done his due diligence to get this program back to where it once was, or one that could prove the complete opposite.

Even if Fickell does keep his job throughout the season, ESPN compiled a list of coaches who are more than ready to make a jump to the Power Four.

Wisconsin should keep an eye on:

  • Memphis's Charles Huff
    • As a Maryland native, Huff could have his eye on a gig in the Big Ten. He's assisted for top teams like Alabama and Penn State and sports a 39-25 overall record. That leaves a little to be desired, but is a former conference champion in his own right.
  • Navy's Brian Newberry
    • Is there a world where the Badgers could go back to their roots of being a run-first offense with Newberry as their next head coach? Baylor, Newberry's alma mater, will certainly have their eye on a coach who's won 21 games these past two seasons. Fickell's record in three years at Wisconsin? 17-20.
  • UNLV's Dan Mullen
    • ESPN believes Mullen could head to the ACC or Big Ten after his second season with the Rebels. Mullen's 113-65 overall record would be greatly welcomed in Madison, as he brings valuable SEC experience from his time at Mississippi State and Florida.
