Florida football is preparing to host the top tight end prospect in the 2028 cycle, four-star recruit Kaleb Ballard. The multi-day visit allows Jon Sumrall and the Gators to build a connection with the top-75 recruit preemptively.

The Gators have already secured a blue-chip 2027 tight end commitment in Jackson Ballinger. Now, tight ends coach Evan McKissack turns his attention to Ballard. The 6-foot-5-inch, 223-pound Wetumpka, Alabama, native is also being pursued by Alabama and Auburn, who are among his 23 offers.

Florida may be shaping one of the nation's best 2027 groups, but are showing a willingness to invest two classes ahead, signaling a commitment to stacking back-to-back foundational cycles. Emphasis on this position proves that Buster Faulkner views the tight end as a cornerstone piece in his long-term offensive vision.

The Gators are fortifying relationships early on the recruiting trail with premier talent as the fight for elite prospects intensifies in this extremely competitive SEC region. Landing visits from highly-touted Alabama prospects underlines Florida's ability to recruit across in rival territory.

Ballard will attend the program's Friday Night Lights event on June 19 and then Florida’s Grill in the Ville cookout the following afternoon.

Kaleb Ballard's recruiting summary

Ballard is pinned as the No. 61 overall prospect in the 2027 class and No. 2 at his position according to 247Sports composite; On3 industry rankings have him at No. 52 and No. 1, respectively. The Alabama native has 23 offers, including invitations from SEC programs Georgia, Alabama, Auburn and LSU.
