Trinidad Chambliss Has Ole Miss As True Title Contenders After LSU Win

The Ole Miss Rebels vs. LSU Tigers in Week 3 has been the talk of college football for months now, and the game lived up to the hype.
Lane Kiffin left Ole Miss during their playoff run for LSU, and his return to Oxford was highly anticipated. There were plenty of question marks around the Rebels under Pete Golding, but quarterback Trinidad Chambliss was granted another year of eligibility, and that has made Ole Miss a national title contender.

All the talk around quarterbacks in college football is about Arch Manning, Darian Mensah, Dante Moore, and CJ Carr, yet Chambliss flew under the radar. Chambliss isn’t as highly touted as an NFL prospect as Manning, Moore, and Carr due to his age – 25 – but in college he’s the best quarterback.
Chambliss can extend plays with his legs, and his arm talent is next-level. LSU’s defense has been solid through two weeks, but Chambliss was able to pick apart the defense.
As LSU rallied back to tie the game 24-24, Chambliss didn’t let the pressure get to him. Instead, he had a stellar drive to score a touchdown, and after penalties, Ole Miss went for two and got it to go up by 8.

The Rebels won 32-24 to remain undefeated and knock off Kiffin and LSU. It was a statement win as Ole Miss looks like a national title contender, and the big reason why is Chambliss.
Chambliss finished the game throwing for 363 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception, while rushing for another touchdown. Ole Miss’ offense looks like one of the best in the country as Chambliss was poised in the pocket and made the right reads to march down the field.
The Rebels should likely walk into Austin, Texas, on Oct. 24 undefeated with a chance to be the No. 1 ranked team in college football with a win. Ole Miss does have to play Texas on the road and Georgia at home, which are tough games, but you can’t count out Chambliss and Ole Miss.
Trinidad Chambliss Made Statement in Ole Miss Win
Ole Miss vs. LSU was one of the most anticipated games of the year, and the Rebels were able to hold off the Tigers for the win.
It was a statement win, and Chambliss admits this meant more, as the Rebels wanted to get the win over Kiffin in his return to Mississippi.
“It meant more than other games,” Chambliss said postgame. “I’m finally glad we got that one out of the way because emotions were really high for this game. … This one meant a whole lot. We feel like the whole nation disrespects us in comparison to LSU. But at Ole Miss there’s a whole lot here that people don’t see.”
Chambliss does have a lot of gratitude for Kiffin, who found him at Division II Ferris State and made him Ole Miss’ starting quarterback. However, he wanted to get the win, which he did, even though he doesn’t think he played as well as he could’ve.
“I didn’t play my best ball in the second half. Nothing is perfect. I wasn’t comfortable in the pocket,” Chambliss said. “There are ups and downs in a game but the key to that last drive was not playing timid and playing free.”
However, to my eye, Chambliss was stellar, and if he continues to play like that, the Rebels are a true title contender.
