UCF Placed 15th in Big 12 2027 Team Recruiting Rankings

The UCF Knights received a flurry of commitments during the official visit period, but they have the second-worst 2027 recruiting class in the Big 12.
UCF is suffering from a low class size and few high-level recruits in its class. The program has 13 commitments (third-fewest), all three-star talents.
Oklahoma State rounds out the list with the fewest (11), despite having one four-star in Israel Hammons, a local product. Texas Tech tops the rankings with two five-stars and 10 four-stars.
Coach Scott Frost and his coaching staff impressed athletes visiting the campus throughout the summer. It often led to quick commitments, either on the final day of their visit or a few days after.
The Knights landed offensive lineman Ty MontsDeOca, running back Omari St. Fort, linebackers Ian McDuffie and Debonaire Jackson, defensive lineman Akhcuonam Augustin, defensive backs Jonathan Barns and Tyler Walker Jr. and EDGE Dontallis Render in June.
McDuffie is the most interesting recruit of the eight who committed in the month. UCF flipped the New Jersey native from his initial school, Syracuse. It was the first flip of the 2027 class, but the third flip in the past year.
Freshman quarterback Rocco Marriott flipped from James Madison after the Knights coach gunned for him. His high school teammate, Brooks Hall, followed suit, de-committing from South Dakota to continue their partnership in Orlando.
Barns and Walker were underrated commitments. The defensive back will undergo significant changes after next season, as most of the starters are seniors. Securing future depth was much-needed rather than relying on the transfer portal to rebuild an entire position.
Most of the recruiting class are local products in the Knights' backyard, but Frost has expanded the school's reach out of state as well. He said it's part of an effort to find hidden gems across the nation at Big 12 Media Day.
UCF's 2027 recruiting class is weak, rankings-wise, but the new coaching staff isn't prioritizing star names; they're focusing on players who embody the culture Frost is building in his second stint.
The coaching staff told players how they envision their contributions to the program. Tight end Tanner Ehmen said the Knights believe he can be a Swiss Army knife; flex out in the receiving game or be physical in the blocking game.
Community was also important for recruits, especially the local ones, who play Power Four football while remaining close to friends and family.
Rankings are a solid measuring barometer, but never the end-all be-all. UCF is doing the best it can against conference rival powerhouses.
