Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels are staying hot on the recruiting trail.

As UNC prepares for another tough Atlantic Coast Conference game this week, the program received some great news on that recruiting front. Four-star defensive back David Davis has flipped his commitment from Penn State to North Carolina on Thursday afternoon.

The commitment comes just a few days after he wrapped up his official visit to North Carolina. With Penn State making the move to fire James Franklin, UNC jumped back into the race and got him on campus. The visit paid off for Belichick and the Tar Heels.

The defensive back hails from Pittsburgh and plays at Imani Christian Academy. He committed to Penn State back in March of 2025 as part of the 2026 class.

Davis ranks No. 382 nationally, the No. 26 athlete and No. 11 player in the state of Pennsylvania per the 247Sports composite rankings. His commitment to North Carolina gives the Tar Heels 36 commitments in the 2026 class, a loaded class in Belichick's first real recruiting cycle.
