Urban Meyer: Irish ‘walking into December with an undefeated team’

College Football Hall of Fame coach and Fox Sports analyst Urban Meyer knows a thing or two about success – just look at the three national title seasons he had between Florida and Ohio State with a stint at Notre Dame before becoming a head coach.
On Wednesday’s show of The Triple Option, Meyer continued the trend of some experts predicting Notre Dame to have a very successful 2026 season. Coming from a guy that led the Buckeyes to a win over the Irish in the 2016 Fiesta Bowl, Meyer firmly believes that Notre Dame will be in tip-top shape once the College Football Playoff and bowl season rolls around near the end of the year.
“People are saying (Notre Dame) has the best facility in college football,” Meyer said via The Triple Option. “They have one of the highest paid rosters in college football. They have an excellent coach and coaching staff…and by the way, they have a schedule that’s very manageable. I think this is the year of the Irish, and I think they’re going to be walking into December with an undefeated team and healthy team.”
The Irish are out for redemption this season after being snubbed out of last year’s CFP. Notre Dame is set for its season opener against Wisconsin on Sunday in the Shamrock Series game at Lambeau Field, the home of the Green Bay Packers.
