Vote for Journal Star Boys Athlete of the Week for Sept. 28-Oct. 3, presented by CEFCU

After plenty of solid high school sports performers over the last week, here are the Journal Star Boys Athlete of the Week nominees for Sept. 28-Oct. 3, presented by CEFCU.

Riley Foglesong, South Fulton football

Fogleson put together a dominant run performance on Friday, Oct. 2. The senior running back rushed for 222 yards and two touchdowns to beat Rushville-Industry 35-8. He had 25 carries for 8.9 yards per rush, while adding 10 tackles and 3.0 tackles for loss. Fogleson has 1,410 yards and 23 TDs and averages 10.9 yards a carry for the Rebels (6-1).

Jeeter Schweigert, Metamora football

Schweigert had a record-setting night on Friday, Oct. 2. The Metamora quarterback threw for a school-record 457 yards and five TDs as the Redbirds beat Washington 41-7. Schweigert found his favorite target, Briggs Bucy, for a school-record 294 yards on 10 catches and three TDs. Metamora's victory was its first over Washington in five meetings.

Keegan Schol, Illinois Valley Central football

Schol was a steady presence behind center on Friday, Oct. 2. The senior quarterback threw for three TDs in a 51-8 win over non-conference visitor Elmwood/Brimfield. Schol, who finished with 104 yards on 5-for-6 passing, found his favorite target, Braden Pheiffer, for 93 yards on four catches and two TDs. His scores were from 13 and 39 yards out.

Will Jaegle, Washington soccer

Jaegle came up big in rivalry match on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The senior midfielder notched two goals as the Panthers beat Mid-Illini Conference foe and visitor Metamora 3-0. He saw assists from teammates Jacob Clift, Finn McGreevy and Sutton Ege, who added a goal. Jaegle has scored at least one goal in five of the last six matches with 17 goals on the season.

Adam Perry, Eureka cross country

Perry ran his best race of the season on Saturday, Oct. 3. The sophomore won his first race of the season at the Elmwood Invite, clocking in a personal-best 15 minutes, 6.7 seconds on the 3-mile Maple Lane Country Club course. His finish was nearly nine seconds better than the runner-up and helped Eureka (57 points) win the team title.

Jack Coulter, Peoria Notre Dame golf

Coulter posted a big win on Friday, Oct. 2. The senior took medalist honors at the Class 2A Galesburg Regional, shooting a 1-under 70 at Bunker Links Municipal Golf. He shot a 2-under 35 on the back nine, posting birdies on 10, 12, 13 and 14. Coulter also birdied No. 8. His finish helped PND (304) win the regional title over host Galesburg (318).
