As the Washington Huskies turn the majority of their attention on the recruiting trail to the 2028 class, wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings has a difficult act to follow after bringing in one of the nation's best groups of pass catchers in 2027.

One way that he could do that would be by winning the battle for one of the nation's most coveted athletes, four-star Dennis Tua'one. After extending an offer to the product of Utah's Timpview High School in January, Jedd Fisch's coaching staff could make a sizable push for his services in the coming months as the program looks to continue adding high-end depth at the position.

Ranked as the No. 79 overall prospect and No. 11 wide receiver in the 2028 class, Tua'one has received 24 offers from all over the country, including Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Texas A&M, and USC, and the Huskies may have some ground to make up.

According to a report from Rivals' Adam Gorney, it's widely believed that coach Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes—who have hosted him for a pair of unofficial visits—are in the lead for the talented athlete who's done a little bit of everything at the high school level.

Not only did he pull in 33 catches for 641 yards and 5 touchdowns, but he also added 223 yards and 5 scores on the ground. On top of that, Tua'one threw for 872 yards and 4 touchdowns with 8 interceptions, while adding 5 pass breakups and a pick of his own at defensive back.

After adding a trio of four-star prospects in Tre Moore, Braylon Pope, and Dontay Tyson in 2027, along with three-star Zerek Sidney, the Huskies may have some trouble selling early playing time in the upcoming recruiting cycle. Still, Cummings has proven to be one of the country's best salesmen and could make a big impact on Tua'one.
