Washington Huskies second-year wide receiver Dezmen Roebuck has statistically been one of the best in the country through the first half of the 2026 college football season.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound pass catcher is No. 6 in the FBS with 286 yards after catch and No. 5 in receptions (43) going into the Huskies' second Big Ten road game this Friday at Purdue. Although the Marana, Arizona native has just 387 receiving yards, tied for No. 59 in the country and just seven more yards than his classmate and teammate Chris Lawson, there is more to Roebuck than that.
"It's Dez," wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings responded Tuesday when asked about the most physical run blocker in his room. "Yeah, it's Dez. It was fun watching him the other night he had a battle with Iowa's nickel (Jacob Wallace). They were getting after it. That was fun to watch."
Roebuck was one of three receivers to haul in a touchdown from backup quarterback Elijah Brown in the Huskies' 41-24 loss to the Hawkeyes at Husky Stadium last Friday. Late in the third quarter, the UW slot receiver broke free just enough from fifth-year Iowa defensive back Deshaun Lee to cut the deficit to 34-18 following a two-point conversion.
Most yards after the catch, FBS WRs:
Jesse Legree, Oregon State: 427
Carlos Hernandez, Wake Forest: 413
Que'Sean Brown, Virginia Tech: 324
Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State: 313
Chris Durr Jr., Maryland: 308
Dezmen Roebuck, Washington: 286
Mario Sanders, Southern Miss: 283

Through his first six games as a freshman in 2025, Roebuck had nearly the same receiving yards (318) and an equal number of touchdowns (2). However, as expected with the departures of veterans Denzel Boston and Omari Evans, Roebuck has more than doubled his receptions total from 18 to 43, and that held true when Brown came in for the injured Demond Williams Jr. in the second half.
Jedd Fisch and the Huskies' offense will need Roebuck to continue to produce as the unit searching for a significant improvement against the Boilermakers. Through three conference games against Illinois, Minnesota and UCLA, fourth-year coach Barry Odom's Purdue defense has only had one opposing receiver compile a 100-yard receiving game, Illini veteran Collin Dixon, who put up 10 receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown in a 24-17 loss two weeks ago.
Roebuck doesn't need to have his first 100-yard game in conference play—he's the only UW receiver to have a 100-yard game this season (121 yards vs Eastern Washington), with second-year tight end Baron Naone (103 yards) being the other, also against the Eagles—for the Huskies to return from West Lafayette with the first victory in league play.
He does, however, need to continue to produce as he has for Fisch and the offense to have at least a chance to overcome the Boilermakers at Ross–Ade Stadium.
