The Washington Huskies' offensive line has come a long way in Jedd Fisch's tenure on Montlake.
When the head coach took over the program in January 2024, it was a unit that had been torn down to the studs and pieced together during the Huskies' first season in the Big Ten with players fresh off major knee injuries, transfers from lower levels, and inexperience. Now, according to Phil Steele, the Huskies have one of the best offensive lines in the nation.
The college football analyst released his preseason rankings of every program's offensive line units, and ranked the Huskies at No. 21. However, by the end of the year, position coach Michael Switzer's unit could rise even further up that list thanks to some promising young talent.
Phil Steele's 2026 Top OL Units in the West (National Rank)
1. USC (5)
2. Oregon (8)
3. BYU (19)
4. Washington (21)
5. Boise St (28)
6. UCLA (36)
7. UNLV (47)
8. Fresno St (49)
9. Arizona (50)
10. San Diego St (54)
11. Stanford (57)
12. Utah (60)
13. Air Force (67)— SuperWest Sports (@SuperWestSports) June 11, 2026
Anchored by seniors Drew Azzopardi and Landen Hatchett at right tackle and center, along with Freshman All-American John Mills at left guard, Washington's offensive line has some established pieces to anchor a unit that will also feature former five-star freshman Kodi Greene at left tackle and redshirt freshman Champ Taulealea at right guard.
Throughout spring practice, the Huskies' offensive line looked like a dominant unit that has certainly improved in leaps and bounds from spring practice in 2024, when there weren't even enough players to run two full units of linemen out for scrimmage periods. And while expectations around the program for the unit are to be one of the best in the conference, the players are shooting for the stars.
"Me and the o-line, we are working," Mills said in February. "We're trying to win that Joe Moore Award. We have our sights on that; that's our goal this offseason, just to get as good as possible."
