Wednesday Dawg Bites Is Hoping For A Real Challenge

Congrats, Dawg fans. It’s no halfway through Oklahoma game week.

First of all, in case you missed it…plans for a future series between Georgia and Clemson are officially waved off. It’s shameful and disappointing to see the current college football landscape render one of college football’s greatest rivalries as useless, but it’s simply something that fans will have to accept, not matter how much its disliked.

But as to the present…there is the allure of Oklahoma in Athens for the first time this weekend. The Banner-Herald has a video visit with the Bulldogs tight end, touching on a mix of topics.

A common theme for this Georgia team is that it is not really known how good it is. It’s easy to look very good against WKU, Tennessee State, and Arkansas. And Georgia’s offensive line has simply pushed the opposing side around so far. But Oklahoma should test that majorly. The Sooners may be sputtering on offense, but this team rode defense and special teams to the CFP last year, and that’s why as far as the trenches go, Saturday could be a fight in a phone booth.

Without question, this Saturday, in some respects will the closest thing to a challenge for this team to have faced so far. Does the game lose some buzz due to Oklahoma being upset already? Sure. But that does not take away from the fact that the Bulldogs get their first ‘show me’ game of the season.
