We’ve finally made it. We’ve finally arrived at the start of the Notre Dame Football season — the 139th in history. Now, I know you may think I’m jumping the gun here with the season opening game still a month away, but that would be incredibly basic.

Fall camp is here, and that means the season is here.

In a few hours, Marcus Freeman will address the media and we’ll start getting some answers to the questions we have for 2026 — which will likely be followed up with more questions. This is how it all works, and as tedious as this next month can be, I fully believe this season will be entirely worth it.

The really good news is that all of the offseason nonsense is over now — we have other things to deal with now. Notre Dame is a national topic every week, and through all of the recruiting, NIL, transfer portal, conference realignment talk, congress, and future scheduling — we always had August. The only thing that matters now are the twelve games on Notre Dame’s schedule and the opportunity it brings.

Sure, we’re all going to want to know the injury situations, depth charts, and other various tidbits — and we’ll get it all, but now is the time to start preparing for the scope of the entire season. Notre Dame is almost assuredly going to be a preseason top five team, and with that kind of ranking, the expectations are juiced even more. I have no doubt that this is going to be an incredible football team, and I’m ready for what that kind of season that brings.

The online chatter doesn’t matter despite its entertainment value (which can be incredibly high). The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are readying themselves for a national championship run, so buckle up and put the offseason (and last year’s postseason) six feet underground.
