The matter of who exactly is still eligible stays complicated

A judge’s ruling in Colorado last week is making for plenty of chaos across college sports right now, leaving everyone wondering just who exactly will be eligible to play in the school year ahead. Football programs are scrambling to assess potential additions with less than a month to go before the season begins, and with fall camp underway already in lots of places.
While the Colorado case has received the bulk of the headlines for granting the high school class of 2022 an extra year, there are in fact quite a few legal cases against the NCAA in progress—so many that the NCAA is trying to consolidate at least some of them.
Among others, there’s a significant case in Tennessee unfolding as well. The NCAA is appealing the ruling in Colorado and it’s possible that that appeal is successful, so coaches don’t exactly have a clear idea about how to proceed with adding to their rosters. I have no idea when we should expect some clarity on the matter, especially with so many other cases pending, but in the meantime, this sure is confusing!
