'We'll see how the season goes': Texas A&M QB on potential 2027 return

Ahead of his appearance on the podium at the 2026 SEC Media Days, Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed is still unsure if this will be his last campaign competing for the Aggies.

During his greeting with members of the Texas A&M media, the Nashville, Tennessee, hinted at a major decision coming up at the end of this year about a potential return for his senior season, which would be massive for Mike Elko and company entering 2027.

While there's still plenty of time for Reed to decide between entering the NFL Draft or continuing his collegiate career with the Maroon and White, it is something Aggie fans should be watching closely over the span of the 2026-27 season.

Reed also spoke to the media about his goals for his junior year, which included more designed plays that could move his dual-threat ability to the next level. Beyond wanting to progress and improve as a quarterback, Reed wants to win. The gunslinger helped lead Texas A&M to its first 11-0 start since 1992 and the program's first appearance in the College Football Playoff in 2025, which has raised the ceiling in the eyes of the media and Aggie fans.

He performed outstandingly and showed his development as a signal-caller by ranking fourth in the SEC with 3,169 passing yards, while throwing for 25 touchdowns last season. Reed also accumulated 493 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground.
