The 2025-26 college football season will come to an end tonight in the College Football Playoff national championship at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
After the final whistle, attention will turn toward the 2026 season, fans of major programs can start to dream about their favorite team making a run like Indiana and Miami did this season.

The 2027 national championship is scheduled to be played eight days later than the 2026 national championship, which fell on Jan. 20, 2026.
The latest the title game has ever been played was on Jan. 20, 2025.
Where is 2027 national championship game?
- Location: Allegiant Stadium (Las Vegas)
The announcement that the title game was going to the city nicknamed “Sin City: was announced on Jan. 24, 2025.
When Las Vegas hosts the game, it will become the third city in the Pacific time zone to host the CFP title game, joining the Bay Area (2019) and Los Angeles (2023).
“College football fans across the country are going to be thrilled to hear this news today,” executive director of the College Football Playoff Rick Clark said. “Las Vegas has shown the world they have amazing venues and boundless energy to host an event like the College Football Playoff National Championship in spectacular fashion. I can’t think of a better stage to crown the best team in college football in 2027. I also want to thank Steve Hill and the entire Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority for the hard work and dedication they put into making this day a reality for their city.”
Has Allegiant Stadium hosted CFP national championship game before?
No, Allegiant Stadium has never hosted a CFP championship game. But moving forward, Las Vegas could be part of the future rotation for the CFP national championship game.
