Where LSU football ranks in latest AP Poll after Week 2 win

LSU football moved to 2-0 on the 2026 season after defeating Louisiana Tech 45-14 during a Week 2 game in Baton Rouge on Saturday. The Tigers started slow on offense but pulled away in the second half for their second blow out victory.

Head coach Lane Kiffin and his team were rewarded for the convincing win. In this week's AP poll, LSU moved up one spot to No. 7. The Tigers were helped by a few upsets across the country. Oregon, after being upset by Oklahoma State, fell to No. 21. Ohio State dropped out of the top spot to No. 6 after losing to Texas, which is No. 1.

LSU is the third-highest SEC team in this week's poll behind the No. 1 Longhorns and No. 2 Georgia. The Tigers' Week 3 opponent, Ole Miss, is up one spot to No. 8 after beating Charlotte 41-9 in Week 2. The two sides are set for a top-10 matchup in Oxford on Saturday.

Matchups between LSU and Ole Miss git heated over the last few seasons as the Rebels bolstered their standing in the conference but Saturday's tilt will top them all. Kiffin, who coached Ole Miss for six seasons, left unceremoniously for the LSU job in November before the Rebels made their first appearance in the College Football Playoffs.
